Keith Armstrong

Keith Armstrong has specialised for 13 years in collaborative, hybrid, new media works with an emphasis on innovative performance forms, site-specific electronic arts, networked interactive installation, alternative interfaces and art-science and arts-health collaborations. His ongoing research focuses on how scientific and philosophical ecologies can both influence and direct the design and conception of networked, interactive media artworks. Keith’s artworks have been shown and profiled extensively both in Australia and overseas. He has been the recipient of numerous grants from the public and private sectors and has been awarded two full time academic scholarships and two full time fellowships.
Linda Carroli

I am a writer, researcher, editor and consultant in cultural and urban development and innovation. Having spent some years exploring experimental writing, I am presently investigating the intersection of technology, science, culture and urbanism. I was formerly the editor of art, science and technology electronic magazine, fineArt forum and editor of The Ideas Book (UQP 2005). As an award winning writer, I continue to publish in a range of media nationally and internationally. Based in Brisbane, I have completed studies in media, cultural studies and heritage and am currently undertaking postgraduate studies in urbanism and urban design.
Jenny Fraser

Jenny Fraser works at the nexus of an artistic practice and filmmaking through new technologies. Her work is exhibited both nationally and internationally, including ISEA 06 in San Jose and the Interactiva Biennales at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico.
Helen Varley Jamieson

I’m a theatre artist who has been exploring cyberformance, live performance on the internet, since 2000; I’m from NZ but currently enrolled in a master of arts (research) at QUT in Brisbane, researching cyberformance & networked performance. I’m a founding member of the globally dispersed cyberformance troupe Avatar Body Collision (www.avatarbodycollision.org) & the project manager for UpStage (http://upstage.org.nz/blog/) - an open source web-based venue for cyberformance.
Suzon Fuks

Director, multimedia artist, photographer.
Born and studied in Brussels dance, theatre and music, completed a Visual Arts Masters at La Cambre. Since 1984, she directs for stage and screen, making award-winning films and solo performance shows, collaborating with numerous European companies. She moved to Australia in 96, co-founding, with dancer-choreographer James Cunningham, the multimedia performance company IGNEOUS. She directs and makes visuals for all its productions, and facilitates workshops, master classes and labs in Australia and overseas. In 2003, mentored by Keith Armstrong and Kelli Dipple on networked/telematic performance. Currently collaborating on 3 cyberformances for UpStage 070707 festival.
James Cunningham

Born in Melbourne, completed an Advanced Certificate in Performance (Dance) (87-88), and performed for three years with Dance North, Townsville (89-91).
After paralysing his left arm in an accident, he began collaborating with Belgian multimedia artist Suzon Fuks, co-founding multimedia performance company Igneous in 1997, and has choreographed and performed in each of its productions.
In 1999 he received an Emerging Artist’s grant as a choreographer, and in 2006 a choreographic fellowship at The Australian Choreographic Centre. In 2003, he partook in a mentorship researching networked/telematic performance, and is currently collaborating on cyberformances for UpStage 070707 festival.
Svenja Kratz

I am a Brisbane artist utilising traditional and new media arts practices to explore the impact of new technologies on concepts of the self, other and the body. Originally trained in interdisciplinary and collaborative arts practice as Griffith University, School of Art, I completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts with honours in 2003. Over the past few years I have produced a number of works, both independently and collaboratively, while engaged as a sessional lecturer at Griffith university teaching in digital writing and contemporary arts. Most recently, I have started my PhD at QUT, working in bio-computational art.
Sarah Xu

Sarah Xu is a research artist currently undergoing a Doctor of Creative Arts program examining and creating cyberfeminist art within Web 2.0 spaces. Sarah began creating digital and multi media art after completing her Bachelor of arts in media, creating in interactive audio drama for her honours project. As well as her artistic practice Sarah works part time as a web designer, often utilising open source content management systems. Sarah is also part of the new cyberfeminist collective blog project ‘No Una Banana’.
Justin Lam

With 6+ years experience in internet/new media, I have held a variety of management/strategist roles in major corporate, start-up and consulting environment. Experiences include management of seed investment fund for leading Australian Telco, content business development at top ISP and providing technology risk management advice to top 4 Australian bank. Currently strategist and r&d manager for the Copyright Agency Limited (CAL).
Tracy Meziane

Tracey Meziane (nee Benson) is a cross media artist, writer and curator residing in Canberra, Australia. Since 1993 she has had 10 solo shows and she has participated in over 70 group exhibitions. Her work has been presented in the USA, England, Russia, Germany and Ireland as well as local and interstate exhibitions. In 2001 she completed a research masters project at the Centre for Innovation in the Arts (CINOVA) at Queensland University of Technology.
In 2004, she presented a paper as part of ISEA2004, in Tallinn, Estonia and has participated in a number of international digital media events including: AOIR 2006; Siggraph 2001; N5M4, Amsterdam 2003; MAAP’99 and MAAP2000. In addition, Tracey also works in the Australian Government Department of Environment and Water Resources as a Web Manager and IT Project Manager.
Sebastian Moody

Sebastian Moody is a Brisbane-based conceptually driven artist. His work uses a wide range of media and occurs in an equally wide range of spaces. He holds a Batchelor of Arts (Visual Arts) fro Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and is currently studying a Masters in Museum Studies at the University of Queensland (UQ). He is also a founding member of art collective, The General Will.
Adele Varcoe

Adele Varcoe is currently undertaking a Masters of Fashion at RMIT University in Melbourne. Her research project titled The Merging of Clothing and the Body investigates the opportunities for fashion when clothing merges with our physicality.
When not at RMIT, Adele can be found making things and modifying skins in her traveling Tent. Adele has a degree in Fashion, and has worked with Bernhard Willhelm in Paris. Before embracing her postgraduate studies she worked as a special effects artist on a selection of B grade films and spent sometime in Perth at Symbiotica. Alongside her research practice, Adele currently teaches within the Architecture and Design department at RMIT University.
Orit Ben-Harush

I am a PhD student at the Creative Industries faculty, QUT, researching Australian women and mobile phones usage. More specifically, I am interested in researching behaviour patterns and implications of Australian adult women using mobile phones, with specific focus on social networks and wider outcomes regarding society, economy and politics. Prior to my PhD studies, I was working in telecom companies in Israel in marketing and research positions. I am a mother of 3 kids.
Lawrence Meckan

I am a creative lead designer and developer, primarily within the online accessibility and usability space. I have been creating various online mediums and spaces for the last 14 years, dealing with rich media such as Flash and Quicktime as well as content, typography and semantics.
